HOW DO I LOOK? ------------WHO AM I?
  • Connection—trust—circle
  • Appearance, relationships, jobs, education, community, etc.
  • Interpersonal relationships influence several areas of a person’s development, such as socialization, conflict resolution, empathy, communication skills, affect development, and to some degree, cognitive development

SKILLS:

  • Ability to understand emotional information, and to understand how emotions change in various stages of relationships
  • Ability to recognize one’s own emotions and the emotions of other people

It has been found that those who are able to obtain positive interpersonal relationships have higher self-esteem, and more socially responsible, and are more sensitive and emotionally supportive of others.

CAUSES OF POOR INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Lack of social skills
  • Lack of friends
  • Often being left out of group activities
  • Difficulty approaching or making friends
  • Lonely appearance and stays on group peripheral
  • Hostile and rejecting of others
  • Bullying behavior
  • Withdrawn from others
  • Seeking attention by being the class clown
  • Constantly trying to make others laugh even in inappropriate situations
  • Feeling devalued by others
