As well, she has given presentations at federal, provincial and territorial government conferences. Ms. Shaughnessy is the author of numerous articles in refereed journals.

As a direct result of her work in penitentiaries, Ms. Shaughnessy developed
theRedPath Aboriginal-specific model to teach practitioners of all health and wellness programs the crucial importance of emotional health. Her goal is to have theRedPath community-focused model mirrored in rural and urban Aboriginal communities across Canada. Ms. Shaughnessy’s lifetime commitment to caring and helping people is demonstrated through her active involvement in her family and community. Her commitment has also extended to communities across Canada. In 1997, she was instrumental in helping set up an experiential learning school in Pangnirtung, Baffin Island, Nunavut for university students, and in 2004 trained frontline workers in The Pas, Manitoba to use
